Texas Powerball Player Wins $1 Million, Jackpot Nears $1 Billion
No one matched all six numbers in Wednesday's Powerball drawing that featured a jackpot worth $865 million. The winning numbers were 37-46-57-60-66 with a Power Ball of 8.
That means the Powerball jackpot now soars to $935 million for the next drawing on Saturday, March 30. The estimated lump sum cash payout is $449 million.
Three Winners of $1 Million
Even though nobody matched all the numbers, three players did manage to match all five non-Powerball numbers. That's worth $1 million. None of those three opted in for the Power Play option which would have doubled their money.
The three million-dollar winners were from Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Texas.
Texas Million Dollar Winner
The ticket was sold at a Kroger grocery store in Flower Mound, Texas, just northwest of Dallas.
It was a quick pick.
Mega Millions Billion Dollar Winner
The news is still buzzing about the winner of the 5th largest jackpot in the history of the Mega Millions game. Someone in New Jersey matched all six numbers for the $1.128 billion grand prize. The estimated cash payout is $536 million.
The winning ticket was purchased at ShopRite Wines and Spirits in Neptune Township, New Jersey.
This is the first Mega Millions jackpot payout since December 8 when two tickets sold at the same store in California matched all six numbers for the big cash prize.
The next Mega Millions drawing will take place on Friday, March 29. The jackpot moves back down to $20 million with an estimated cash payout of $9.5 million.
The odds of winning the grand prize for the Powerball or Mega Millions jackpot is close to 1 in 300,000,000.
