Tip-A-Cop Fundraiser Is July 22, 23 at Lufkin’s Texas Roadhouse
If you drive by Texas Roadhouse in Lufkin on Wednesday evening, July 22, and see several fire trucks and numerous firefighters at the restaurant, it's not because they're responding to a big fire there. On Thursday evening, July 23, if you see a gathering of Lufkin Police vehicles and uniformed officers at Texas Roadhouse, it's not some sort of big bust or dangerous situation happening there. In fact, you should treat this as an invitation to a very 'special' event.
Tip-A-Cop Fundraiser For Special Olympics
On July 23, Tip-A-Cop is taking place at Texas Roadhouse locations across the Lone Star State. This fundraiser supports Special Olympics programs. More specifically, all donations will help provide year-round sports training, competition, and health programs for children and adults with intellectual disabilities — all while building bridges between officers and the communities they serve.
The Lufkin Tip-A-Cop event will be a little different than most around the state. Ours will be a 2-night fundraiser. Lufkin firefighters will be participating on July 22, while Lufkin Police officers will take part on July 23. On both evenings, from 5 pm until 9 pm, firefighters and police will be greeting diners, introducing athletes, and collecting donations for Special Olympics Texas.
There will be a friendly competition between the first responders to see who collects the most money for this program. Plus, the City of Lufkin hopes to finish its fundraising event as one of the top participating cities in the state. Texas Roadhouse is located in the Lufkin Mall parking lot, and anyone who wants to give money but can't attend the event can donate here.
