Deep East Texas Celebrates Five Volleyball ‘Area Champions’ in the UIL Playoffs

A handful of volleyball teams from Deep East Texas high schools are still alive in the UIL Texas volleyball playoffs. We are now entering the third round of the playoffs (regional semifinals). Five teams from the Pineywoods are area champs. That includes three teams from District 21-2A, which gives an indication of just how tough that district is.

The standout game of the bunch will be 3rd-ranked Central Heights taking on Clifton, who is ranked number two in the state. Let's take a look at our Area Champs!

Central Heights Lady Blue Devils

• Bi-District Champs - defeat Kountze 3-0
• Area Champs - defeat Anderson Shiro 3-0
• Regional Semifinal - #3 Central Heights (40-6) vs #2 Clifton (39-6), Thursday, November 6 @ 7 pm at Franklin High School

Huntington Devilettes

• Bi-district Champs - defeat Buna 3-0
• Area Champs - defeat Coldspring-Oakhurst 3-0
• Regional Semifinal - #10 Huntington (30-18) vs Troy (26-11), Thursday, November 6 @ 7:30 pm at Centerville High School

Chester Ladyjackets

• Bi-district Champs - first round bye
• Area Champs - defeat Dime Box 3-0
• Regional Semifinal - Chester (30-14) vs Round Top - Carmine (16-23-1), Thursday, November 6 @ 6 pm at Madisonville High School

Garrison Lady Bulldogs

• Bi-district Champs - defeat Carlisel 3-0
• Area Champs - defeat Hawkins 3-0
• Regional Semifinal - Garrison (25-17) vs #4 Jewett Leon (28-8), Saturday, November 8, 2 pm @ Malakoff High School

Woodville Lady Eagles

• Bi-district Champs - defeat Orangefield 3-0
• Area Champs - defeat Van Vleck 3-1
