A few decades ago, Monsignor James Young at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nacogdoches envisioned an event to celebrate the many cultures of Deep East Texas. That vision became a reality with the first-ever Multicultural Festival.

April 27-28, the annual event will take place on the grounds of Sacred Heart located on Appleby Sand Road in Nacogdoches. The sights, sounds, and flavors of the Pineywoods will once again be displayed for everyone to enjoy. The Multicultural Festival will take place on both days from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

One of the toughest decisions at the festival is trying to narrow down what foods you are going to eat. Various booths will represent food offerings from different cultures. You'll be able to sample the flavors of Mexican, Filipino, Vietnamese, German, Indian, Cajun, and American food.

You can also purchase raffle tickets for many great prizes. Some of those prizes include a Traeger grill, $1500 VISA Card, a calf, tire packages, and much more. The raffle drawings will be held at the end of the event on Sunday. Winners need not be present to win.

Before the festivities begin at Sacred Heart, join the community for a fun race around the beautiful SFA campus. The 2nd annual Multicultural Festival 5K and 1 mile fun run is to be held on Saturday, April 27 at 7:45 a.m. in the parking lot of St. Mary’s Campus Ministry, located at 214 Wettermark on the SFA campus. This event kicks off the weekend festivities at Sacred Heart. Sign up at www.runsignup.com.
