Daylight Saving Time Begins This Weekend

Pop Quiz Question - If you forget to move your clocks forward tonight, will you be an hour early or an hour late for church on Sunday morning?

Answer - You would be an hour late. So, make sure you remember to make the change tonight, or you'll be showing up for church right about the time it's letting out.

New Sunrise and Sunset Times

Using Houston as an example, the sun rose this morning at 6:37, and this evening the official sunset time will be 6:26 p.m.

By Monday, however, you'll be in for a much darker ride to work or school with a sunrise of 7:35 a.m. But, then you'll start to enjoy the advantages of a later sunset - 7:27 p.m.

June 21 will be the day with the most daylight of the year. The sun will rise at 6:21 a.m. and will set at 8:25 p.m. The day length on June 21 will be a total of 14 hours, 3 minutes and 30 seconds.

Two Texas Counties are NOT in the Central Time Zone

All of Texas will spring forward one hour late tonight, but two Texas counties will be offset by an hour in comparison to all other counties in the Lone Star State.

El Paso and Hudspeth Counties are in the Mountain Time Zone, which means they are one hour earlier than the rest of Texas. 7:30 a.m. in El Paso means it's 8:30 a.m. in Dallas.

Change the Clock...and the Batteries

Experts advise us that we should change the batteries in our smoke alarms and/or carbon monoxide detectors at least once a year. Changing those batteries when adjusting the clocks has become a good practice.
