Sunland Park, New Mexico is still making massive marijuana money and yep, most of those dollars were "made in Texas". Primarily, El Paso, Texas.

New figures from the New Mexico Regulations and Licensing Department show the land of enchantments move to legalize marijuana has been a financial fiesta, bringing in over a billion dollars since 2022.

Sunland Park, once again, holds a comfortable 2nd place in mota money generated and most of that is coming from their neighbors in the lone star state.

Texas, for whatever reason, refuses to read the writing on the wall and legalize recreational marijuana. Booze, totally cool. Prescriptions meds that may do as much harm as good, they're ok too. Cannabanoids? Ok ... grudgingly ... but pot? Aww, hell no.

How Much Has New Mexico Made?

$1.6 BILLION dollars. That's why I keep writing these, in the hope that our Texas overlords will finally see what they're missing in terms of filling the states coffers.

Sunland Park is tiny yet, (pot-wise), it brought in half as much as NM's biggest city and consistently doubles what the states 2nd biggest city generates. They're not doing that with a population of 18K. (Yeah, 18 - Horizon's got more residents.)

That money is coming from their neighbors, mostly from the 6th largest city in Texas, lil 'ole El Chuco.

Who Leads New Mexico Marijuana Sales?

Its biggest city, Albuquerque, is #1 but Sunland Park is closing in fast while NM's 2nd biggest city, Las Cruces, holds down 3rd. The dollar amounts shift a bit from month to month but that lineup doesn't. Here's how March, 2025, looked for grass green:

  1. Albuquerque, $10.1 million recreational sales.
  2. Sunland Park: $4.8 million recreational sales.
  3. Las Cruces: $2 million recreational sales.

Texas .... C'MOOOOON already.
