Texans Gearing Up For A Record Halloween Celebration This Year
Texas businesses are going all out on Halloween decorations this year!
Everything IS Bigger in Texas!
Wednesday is October 1st, the official start of Halloween season in Texas...but you wouldn’t know it from looking at Texas stores. Texas businesses began stocking Halloween merchandise in July, and some of the Halloween decorations are Texas sized!
Halloween is BIG Business for Retailers
According to the National Retail Federation, Halloween spending is expected to reach a record $13.1 billion this year. The figure is an increase from 2024 when Halloween spending reached $11.6 billion. In 2023, Americans spent $12.2 billion dollars on Halloween merchandise.
Texans Love to Celebrate Halloween
According to Prosper Insights & Analytics, 73% of consumers plan to celebrate the holiday. Of that number, 66% plan to hand out candy, 51% plan to wear a costume, 51% plan to decorate their home, 46% plan to carve a pumpkin, and 24% plan to dress their pets in a costume.
Texans Shop Early for Halloween
When I was growing up, stores restocked holiday decorations throughout the season, but that practice has changed. In order to avoid overstocking, many businesses now buy a certain amount of holiday items and when they are gone, they are gone. That may be why 49% of consumers begin Halloween shopping in September.
It Isn’t You. Texas Halloween decorations ARE Getting Bigger and Bigger!!!
If it appears Halloween decorations are getting larger each year, it is because it is true. Home Depot, Lowes, Tractor Supply and even Texas’ HEB stores are going all in on Halloween. At Lowes, $450 dollars will score you a 12-foot tall, animatronic nightwalker. A 15-foot-tall Scarecrow at Home Depot will run you $300 dollars. Tractor Supply’s 6-foot animatronic Scarecrow will cost you $279 dollars.
Seeing is Believing!
I wanted to see Texas Halloween decor firsthand, so I ventured out over the weekend to see what I could find. If you are looking for huge Halloween decorations, life on the farm Halloween decorations, dog Halloween decorations, or just a headless horseman, central Texas has it all! See what I found below.
