(Arlington, Texas)  The Arlington skyline is changing yet again.

If you've ever driven along I-30 through Arlington you know that Six Flags Hurricane Harbor sits on the north side of the interstate and you can easily pick out where the park is thanks to the big black water slide called 'The Black Hole'.

It's an 80-foot tall tower resembling a gigantic black flying saucer that has twin black slides coming out of each side that are totally enclosed.

The ride has been a fixture in the park for decades, until now.

The Black Hole at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is being demolished

News of this attraction's demise came as a surprise to many park guests. It has been one of their favorite rides for a long time because they could slide down the 500-foot length water slide in a tube with their best friend in total darkness, yeah it's going to be missed.

Pictures of the demolition started appearing in social media posts Saturday morning.

While the park has yet to make an official announcement on why it's being removed and what could potentially be taking its place, the park did refer that the children's area known as Hook's Lagoon would be closing.

And that an all-new kids area called Splash Island would debut in the summer of 2025.

According to one social media vlogger, The Black Hole was one of the most popular rides in the park and is also a one-of-a-kind slide that was the last of its type.

With demolition comes speculation

Now that this attraction is no longer a part of the line-up and skyline, what's going to replace it? Some are hoping for a type of launched water slide.

If one thing is for sure, Six Flags Hurricane Harbor and Six Flags Over Texas are both adding to their respective parks in a big way for 2025 and 2026. I look forward to more big announcements coming from them soon.
