Texas Residents: Prepare For Potential Gorilla Hail Damage

There’s a good chance we could see some extremely large hail in Texas tonight.

We had some rough hail here in North Texas just a few weeks ago, but it will pale in comparison to what meteorologist Reed Timmer says is possible tonight. In a post on X, he placed North Texas and Southern Oklahoma in the crosshairs for possible gorilla hail tonight.

If you’re not familiar with the term “gorilla hail,” it was coined by Dr. Timmer himself. He uses it to describe abnormally large hail, typically two inches in diameter and larger. It’s the kind of hail that can punch a hole through your roof.

On the bright side, Timmer says the threat of tornadoes is near zero for Texoma tonight. However, he couldn’t completely rule out a tornado developing in the area.

We’ve been on high alert the last few days here in our neck of the woods, and it doesn’t look like we’re going to get much of a break anytime soon. Be sure to keep a close eye on local media for the latest updates.
