Dallas Cowboys Mascot Loses His Number and a Player Finally Gets to Wear It
Suck it Rowdy! The Dallas Cowboys made a big change this morning as they allow a player to wear a new number for the first time ever.
Back in 2023, the NFL made a simple rule change. Players were allowed to wear the number zero for their uniform. As long as this player was not an offensive or defensive linemen. This seemed like a rule change everyone could get behind. Who would have a problem with a player wearing a new number? Jerry Jones of course.
Back in 2023, the Dallas Cowboys drafted DeMarvion Overshown out of Texas who famously had the nickname 'Agent Zero'. It was also his jersey number as a Longhorn. It was perfect timing, new rule allowing players to wear 0, and the Cowboys drafting Overshown. Well the problem at AT&T Stadium is, 'technically' someone already has the number zero on their jersey.
Yes, the mascot every Dallas Cowboys fan over the age of six loves to hate. Rowdy, has the number zero already. Technically it's double zero, so I don't get why Overshown could not have had just the one zero. According to Jerry Jones, 'It was Rowdy's number'. So Overshown settled for the number 13 to start his career as a Cowboy. Well good news, this morning the Dallas Cowboys have corrected their mistake and Agent Zero is officially in Arlington.
Overshown officially becomes the first player in Dallas Cowboys history to have the number 0. Now the Dallas Cowboys today are changing their story on why it took Overshown so long to get the number. They said other players were trying to get it first, but from Overshown himself at training camp last year, he said he was not allowed to wear it because of Rowdy.
Hopefully we're just one step closer to Rowdy getting fired. We're at another year of the Rowdy curse living on. January 28, 1996 the Dallas Cowboys won their fifth Super Bowl all time. Rowdy officially became the Dallas Cowboys mascot on August 19, 1996. Since then, the Dallas Cowboys have not even been to a NFC Championship game. Fire Rowdy and get his stupid big head off the sidelines.
