Sombrero’s Coastal Tex-Mex & Cantina Permanently Closes in Nacogdoches
For years, La Carreta was a decent Mexican food restaurant to grab a bite to eat at in Nacogdoches. Then, it closed down, only for a new restaurant - Sombrero's - to move in. Now, that's changing as well.
Sombrero's Coastal Tex-Mex & Cantina Permanently Closed
I was scrolling through Facebook the other day, and I came across a post asking if Sombrero's in Nacogdoches had closed. Naturally, this caught my attention, so the first thing I did was go to the Sombrero's Facebook page. There, at the top of the page, it was listed as "Permanently Closed".

That's a pretty definitive answer right there, when the official Facebook account of the restaurant lists it as closed. However, wondering if maybe, just maybe, there was an error, I decided to go by the building in person.
This is what I saw:

I would've thought that if they were just doing renovations or updates, they wouldn't use "Permanently Closed" on their signs. I also noticed that all of the signs on the exterior of the building were removed as well.
Last Events for Sombrero's Before Closing
This has all been a fairly quick change. On the Sombrero's Facebook page, there was a post showing that they were just part of an event that took place on the SFA campus on August 25th called Nac in a Nutshell. That was the final post online. Before that, on August 21st, another post showed that they were in the process of hiring both full-time and part-time staff.

As far as what happened to the restaurant, I can't really speak to that, because I have no idea. I was pretty surprised to see it come about as quickly as it did. Who knows? Maybe someone is already in the process of moving into the vacant building. I'll be keeping an eye on it to see what's next.
