
National Dress Up Your Pet Day is a Thing? Get Ready!
Growing up, I had pets from day one. Mostly dogs, but there were times when we would have outdoor "barn cats", a few fish, and the occasional hamster. The dogs were my favorite, though.

But, we didn't do all the things with the dogs, especially dressing them up. The most dressed up our dogs would get is when they would receive the complimentary bandana from the groomer after a visit. You know what I'm talking about? They would usually give the dog some bandana with decorations of whatever holiday was coming up.
But some people go all out with their pet costumes. If you don't believe me, just look on Facebook for pictures of the "Critter Costume Contest" that's part of the Blueberry Festival in Nacogdoches. There are costumes of all different kinds showcased there.

I say all that to say this: If you're one of those people that likes to dress up your pet, your day is coming. According to the National Day Calendar, January 14th is National Dress Up Your Pet Day. Get out your sweaters, bandanas, bedazzled collars, sunglasses, ALL THE THINGS. This is your time to let your four-legged companions model for the world! Whether you have a dog, cat, or a gecko - it's not National Dress Up Your "Mammal" Day, after all - you should definitely get those costumes out and show them off.
As for my current dog, my wife and I usually don't "dress him up" in anything more than a nicer collar. There was one time, though, that I got him in a Christmas sweater...It went over about as well as...Well, you can see for yourself below:
