Nacogdoches Is Still Waiting For A Movie Theater Comeback
There are certain things that you just expect a college town to have. Lots of fast-food restaurants, several bars/night-life options, and - something I would definitely expect - a decent movie theater.

However, that is one thing that Nacogdoches is lacking. As of right now, there isn't a movie theater within the city limits. There actually hasn't been one since AMC closed down a while back. In fact, if you go by, this notice has been hanging on the door:
As you can see, the nearest location is in Lufkin...
Technically, There's Still One Theater in Nacogdoches
Now, before you jump up and down telling me there is a theater in Nacogdoches...Yes, I know. There is a single screen theater in the Baker Patillo Student Center on the SFA campus. It's actually a very nice theater. It's roomy, there are snack options, and they keep it clean. It's actually a very nice experience to watch a movie there - or a March Madness selection show, for those of you SFA Basketball fans.

However, you can't see new release movies there. They tend to get movies that have been in theaters for a while, or as they are on their way out of theaters. Also, with a single screen, you don't get the variety of movies that you would get in a stand-alone movie theater.
No New Theaters on the Horizon, As of Right Now
Part of me was hoping that when AMC moved out, a new theater would move right in. It would make sense, right? I mean, they would want to renovate. Things such as new screens, new lighting, sound/video equipment, new flooring would probably be on the checklist, but the structure of the movie theater is still there, so they wouldn't have to do a ton of construction work, in my mind.
However, a For Lease sign is still hanging in the windows, leading me to believe that, at least for the foreseeable future, Nac will continue to be a college town without a movie theater...
