The threat of strong storms in the Tyler area over the weekend led to a big response from the Texas Division of Emergency Management. A team from Lufkin Fire was dispatched Sunday ahead of bad weather.

The severe storms just skirted the Lufkin area, and that left our resources free to help out. This collaboration was put into action by Governor Greg Abbot as the emergency responses were activated.

The additional state emergency response resources were sent because of the threat of bad weather. Lufkin was joined by teams from Marble Falls, Travis County, San Antonio, and Wilson County.

Strong Storms Bring Trees Down And Hail Damage

They were right to activate the extra firefighting resources to the area, as it did get bad. There were reports of massive trees down and hail all over the North East Texas area.

Battalion Chief Jarman, Drive-Operator Crisp, and Firefighters Linam and Faulk took their Type 1 engine.

Strong Storm Brings Down Church Structure In Timpson

I have family in the Carthage area, and there were multiple trees in their yard, along with water coming into the house. The storms were so severe in Timpson that the front of a local church came tumbling down.

According to KLTV, the Sunday evening storm caused a lot of damage to the entrance of the First Baptist Church of Timpson. Church members said the storm came through around 5:30 PM.

It took out part of the metal roof and many bricks from the front exterior wall. Members have been at the scene all morning cleaning up and putting up tarps to prevent further damage.
