Not All Felonys Are Equal In Texas
Though there are four degrees for felony arrests, the designations don't tell the entire story. According to the Nacogdoches Sheriff's Department Darrell Bell, 63, was arrested for stealing material.
That charge and a separate one for property theft are both State Jail Felonies. Meth possession and stealing materials like copper, brass, aluminum, or bronze are both examples of State Jail Felonies in Texas.

On the other end of the spectrum is a First Degree. This is as far as it goes up, though you could get charged with multiple First Degree felonies.
