The signs are up and the latest retailer to move to Lufkin is just days away from a grand opening. I just happened to be in the area today and noticed not one, but two signs for Atwoods.

I also noticed that they put up a new fence and are reusing the lawn and garden area to the side of the store to put larger items for sale. It took a while, but I am glad that side of town is seeing some love.

When Is The Atwoods In Lufkin Going To Open

Atwoods is billed as a ranch and home store. They currently have 75 stores in Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri.

According to The Lufkin Daily News the massive new store in Lufkin will open on March 20, 2024. That is almost exactly one year after the project to turn our old K-Mart into an Atwoods store started.

Once the Lufkin store is open, this will be the southernmost location for the brand. There will be a big red A on the map just below the one in Nacogdoches.

We are lucky to just get one Atwoods, but did you know there is a town with two stores? That distinction goes to Enid, Oklahoma where they opened their first store in 1960.

The store grew from one small 8,000-square-foot location to the huge number of stores they have today, right smack in the middle of the country.
