We hunt deer with bows and arrows, some choose a cross bow, there are many who will use what have been deemed "primitive firearms", and beginning Saturday, October 31, here in Area 2, the season to use modern firearms will open.

We have special deer seasons for kids and veterans; there are even special hunts dedicated to those with disabilities. We are really into the sport as this time of year, buck fever infects every red-blooded hunter, and camouflage becomes the official color of the fall.

Considering the nearly 275,000 licensed deer hunters we have in Louisiana, and the length of our season, which will extend all the way through January,  it's fair to say that for the next few months, you'll likely encounter someone in pursuit of that "Turdy Point Buck" at the coffee pot at a local convenience store.

The sad part is that I can't really even confirm it ever truly happened.  Even Snopes can't validate the true author of the original story.

Course, it really doesn't matter who wrote it, or even if it's true, because once you've heard the story, it's something that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

If you're on blood pressure medicine or you're having breathing problems, you might want to rethink the idea, but if you're ready to laugh until you cry, just take a look at this story. It's a little long, but so worth the read.
