
More Than $10 Million of Meth Seized at Texas/Mexico Border
Drug smuggling continues to be a problem at the Texas/Mexico border. The latest find was a huge drug bust that was worth over $10 million, which was hidden inside a shipment of lettuce.
On November 21, Border Patrol at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility in Pharr, Texas, intercepted a meth load worth $10,300,000.
The vehicle was randomly selected for further inspection utilizing nonintrusive inspection equipment. It was during the secondary inspections that authorities found over 1,100 pounds of meth hidden
The vehicle and contraband were seized, and a criminal investigation has started. The vehicle used was not disclosed.
In a press release issued by US Customs and Border Protection, Port Director Carlos Rodriguez states.
“As this seizure aptly illustrates, our officers’ use of tools and technology were instrumental in this massive takedown of hard narcotics.”
