Severe Weather Overview and Forecast
A cold front has been responsible for the development of strong to severe storms overnight and early this morning from the Concho Valley to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Several severe storm warnings, as well as tornado warnings, have already been issued over the past two hours along the Interstate 30 corridor in northeast Texas.
Southerly winds gusting to over 30 mph will continue to feed the development of storms along and ahead of this frontal boundary. Much of the severe weather threat is expected to move out of east Texas by 1 p.m.
Some storms that may occur this morning across the Pineywoods and northeast Texas could produce tornadoes with winds up to 130 mph, straight-line winds up to 70 mph, and large hail up to 1.75 inches in diameter.
A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings.
